Nils Kahler and his brother Herman J Kahler took over the family run ceramic business established by their grandfather Hermann A Kahler in 1839. By the early 1940s Nils had developed his passion for throwing pots and took over the artistic direction, steering the company into the new market trends. He made designer objects such as ash trays, jugs, vases and lamp bases. The stoneware bases were fired in salt glazes combining raw or embossed patterned surfaces. Turquoise and warm golden colours were his preferred colours. The family business was sold in 1974.
