Mary Gilmour was the sister or Margaret Gilmour and they both attended the Glasgow School Of Art. They were associated with the Glasgow Girls, a group of female designers including Frances and Margaret MacDonald. Mary and Margaret established the Gilmour Studio at 179 West Street lasting around 50 years, where they taught craft students and sold a variety of goods to include metalwork, leatherwork, embroidery, ceramic decoration and painting.
