Gordon Russell ‘Birdlip’ sideboard in Walnut with 2 cupboards and central drawers

The 2 front bevelled cupboard doors, veneered outer frame in Elm, with Burr Elm centre and Ebony line border.

The central section comprises 2 short and 2 long drawers veneered in Elm Curl with Walnut handles

The Walnut framework with exposed decorative dovetailing and through tenon detailing

The whole piece standing on 8 Walnut fluted legs united by decorative ‘H’ stretchers

The hinges and keys are nickel plated brass with Ebony key escutcheon

Sideboard Design No 544 drawn by Gordon Russell late 1926, the ‘Birdlip’ design was considered to be the most expensive and elaborate of Russell’s designs.
