Illum Wikkelso (1919-1999) was an active Danish designer and follower of postwar Scandinavian modernism. He graduated in cabinetry from the Copenhagen School of Arts & Crafts. He became a well known interior designer and established his own workshop. He emphasised form and simplicity and believed that furniture should be built to last whilst being pleasing to the eye.
