Arts and Crafts “Tea Table” in Mahogany with shaped top, flat plank legs inlaid with various woods depicting stylised poppy design. Over hanging shaped under-tier shelf with architectural support.
Designed by Leonard Wyburd
Liberty & Co
Circa 1905
Height 68cm
Top Surface: Width 70cm. Depth 53cm
Lower Surface: Width 97cm. Depth 41cm
This item is currently on display at Liberty, London, 4th Floor Furniture Department
This table is a beautiful example of Leonard Wyburd’s diversity in design, he is better known for his early Moresque designs and heavy Oak designs for Liberty, but this is a much softer hand with lovely subtleties. Featured in the 1906 Studio Year book.
I can imagine a beautiful Liberty & Co silver tea service designed by Archibald Knox sitting on top.
