Original 1987 receipt from Christies King Street London
Peter Waals (1870-1937) was born in Holland where he trained as a cabinet maker. In 1901 Waals moved to London and began working for Ernest Gimson becoming the foreman/manager and chief cabinet maker. His craftsmanship is highly regarded and collected throughout the world. The architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner called Gimson "the greatest of the English artist-craftsmen."
