Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin (1812 - 1852) was an English architect, designer, artist and critic. He was instrumental in the role of reviving the Gothic style.
Following the destruction of the Palace of Westminster in 1834, Pugin was employed by Sir Charles Barry to supply interior designs to include wallpaper and furnishings for his entry to the architectural competition to build the new Palace of Westminster, which he won.
